We are building the facilities around our garden gradually, step by step, and the main part will be completed during the spring. They serve not only the forest kindergarten but the whole community garden – children, parents, seniors and the wider public who will gather here.
The heart of the facilities will be a yurt 8 metres in diameter. During the week it will be the kindergarten’s main shared space – for bad weather, rest and group activities – and outside kindergarten hours it will host meetings, workshops and other community garden events. Attached to the yurt will be a cloakroom with a covered terrace, where children can change their clothes and put on their shoes in peace, and which will also provide a sheltered spot for play and sitting together when it rains.
A short distance from the yurt there will be an outdoor classroom – a place for group activities, reading, crafts and learning right under the open sky, used both by the kindergarten children and for public educational events.
Sanitary facilities, available to children and garden visitors alike, will consist of a washroom and two outhouses with separating (composting) toilets.
The garden will also have two garden sheds for storing materials and tools for the kindergarten and community activities, plus child-sized tools so children can try out small garden jobs themselves. There will also be a mud kitchen for children – a place to play with water, mud and natural materials – and a fire pit where we will gather, whether for kindergarten or community get-togethers.
The garden will also include raised beds where both kindergarten children and community garden members can grow vegetables, and fruit bushes that everyone can harvest from.
The entire plot will be fenced, making it a safe space for children to move and play freely and for the whole community to gather.
The whole space is also available to rent – if you are interested, feel free to contact us by email or phone.
