We are a non-profit organisation focused on early childhood education, building a community around our garden, and running educational activities in the garden for children, parents, teachers and the wider public.
How we started
It all started with a chat on a playground about education – what we felt was missing and what we would want for our own children. We thought about what matters to us and, at the same time, what we enjoy experiencing with our children. We wanted to create a safe yet open space in nature for our children and the children of friends who, like us, value nature and learning from it. And so a place is taking shape that we want to care for together, where our children will gain knowledge as well as the social skills that will serve them in life.
And because it seemed a shame not to make the most of our space, the idea came up to combine our children’s education with a community garden. This created a space that shows children another side of how shared effort and cooperation can build something bigger than any one person could manage alone. In this way we show that every person, at any age, can contribute to and help their community.
An important part of life in our garden are the traditional festivals that follow nature’s changes through the year. They help not only children to perceive nature and the changes around us in a natural way, and they become an opportunity to spend time together outdoors.
